Pencoed Christmas Poster Competition.

As in previous years, Pencoed Town Council will be holding a Christmas Poster Competition for not only the schools in Pencoed, but also for other youth organisations in the town and also for children in Pencoed who do not attend the schools/youth groups in the area.
Given below are the details of the above competition:
Subject: no specific theme this year, can be the Nativity, Santa etc but the poster must include details of this year’s lights switch on and subsequent Santa’s Grotto to be held at Pencoed Miners Welfare Hall.
All entries to be original and on A4 size paper, photocopies will not be accepted.
Entries can either be in written form or as a poster and endorsed with the name of the entrant along with their age and best contact details.
Entries to be received/collected by 12 noon on Friday 28th November.
The judges will be looking at:
– handwriting and spelling
– content
– design
– age of the contestant
This year a winner is to be chosen from each school, one from the youth organisations in the area and another from children in Pencoed not attending any of the mentioned groups. Winners will be notified after the judging has taken place and will be invited to attend a Special Meeting of the Town Council to be held on December 5th at 6pm to receive their prizes. Also, they will be invited to “switch-on” the Town’s Christmas Lights at the Cenotaph on December 6th at 6pm, accompanied by the Mayor of Pencoed.

PUBLIC MEETING – 21/11/2025

Pencoed Town Council will be holding a public meeting to discuss proposals and priorities for the 2026-2027 Budget. This meeting is to be held via Zoom on Friday 21st November at 6:30pm.
If you wish to attend the meeting and raise any proposals on how you think the Council should spend its money, please email clerk@pencoedtowncouncil.gov.uk

PENCOED REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY PARADE AND SERVICE.

The parade will gather and muster at Hendre Road Social Club at approximately 9:30am. At 9:45am the parade will proceed along Hendre Road across the level crossing, passing the Cenotaph on the on the right onto Penybont/Coychurch Road. The parade will proceed along Coychurch Road to Salem Chapel for the Remembrance Service at approximately 10:00am.
The service at Salem Chapel is to be curtailed to 10:45am in order for the parade to march back to the Cenotaph for a service by 11am.
The parade will muster outside Salem Chapel and march back along Coychurch Road to the Cenotaph.
After the service at the Cenotaph there will be a march from the Cenotaph through the Car Park of the Co-op store back around the Cenotaph for the Official Salute at approximately 11:10am. The parade will then cross the level crossing and return to the Social Club, where it will be disbanded at approximately 11:45am.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ROAD CLOSURES WILL BE IN PLACE FOR THE DURATION OF THE PARADE AND WILL BE MONITORED. DETAILS OF THE ROAD CLOSURES ARE CONTAINED IN THE BELOW IMAGES.

Christmas Bus Trip

Pencoed Town Council are happy to announce that a Christmas bus trip has been organised for senior citizens on December 2nd, departing from Pencoed Miners Welfare Hall at 9am for Bristol Christmas Markets, with the bus scheduled to return to Pencoed at approximately 5:30pm.

If you are interested, please visit the Town Council office at Salem Chapel Vestry between the opening hours detailed below. Upon booking, a name and phone number will need to be taken. Please note that payments are cash only and spaces are available on a first come first served basis.
